Should I plead guilty or not guilty and do I have a defence?


In all cases we will of course go through the case with you in detail to ensure we obtain all the relevant facts and circumstances and explore every possible potential defenceYou will receive the best advice in the circumstances of your case. 

Trials – Not Guilty Pleas


    The fee we charge for a trial will vary depending upon a number of features including the number of charges, the complexity of the case, if experts are required, the length of the case, and the number of hearings required before trialAs a guide our Magistrates Court trial fees typically range from £4000- £6,000 + VAT 


    Guilty Pleas


    If you intend to plead guilty and choose to after discussing the case with us and taking our advice we will arrange a meeting where we can obtain your full instructions, then will assist in helping prepare testimonials and references, financial information where required, reference to helpful guidelines or precedents and case law where appropriate and the fullest information to put before the Court in order to obtain the most favourable outcome in your case.  We will attend you at Court in good time for the hearing and run through all matters in advance of the hearing and present the plea in mitigation at Court.  We will ensure that throughout we will be available to discuss any concerns you have and answer your questions, and assist with the case.  

    For a guilty plea and sentence involving a single hearing the fee is £2000+ VAT* any additional hearing dates are usually charged at £750. 

    Travel expenses and waiting time is included within the fees. 

    If you are pleading guilty to an offence but wish to argue that you should not be punish with penalty points or disqualified we may be able to argue special reasons - £2000 + VAT.

    If you have previously been disqualified but wish for us to make an application for the early removal of a driving  disqualification -  £2000 + VAT.

    Trials in the Crown Court will depend on the nature, complexity, amount and type of evidence, experts involved and length of the case but typically will start at £4000 + VAT which will include attendance with you to go through the case, full consideration of he papers and exploration of the potential defences, preparation for attendance at a first hearing usually a pre trial review hearing, taking instructions, statements from you and any witnesses, instructing any required expert, drafting a defence statement and attending the first day of a trial.  Further days of a trial then attract an additional daily fee. 

    Guilty pleas in the Crown Court are £1500 + VAT per hearing.

    Pre charge advice


    We understand that where you are under suspicion of an offence or are being investigated by the police it a be a worrying time and it is often best to be pragmatic and do everything that can be done to prevent a charge from being brought by the police.  For this reason we offer a service where we can assist in putting together evidence along with written submissions to the police to avoid charges altogether. 

    If being interviewed we can also attend the police station with you to ensure you receive the correct specialist advice at the earliest stage. 

    Police Station attendance with you for interview £1000 + VAT.

    Collating and arranging written submissions to the police prior to charge  £750 + VAT.
